Cranberry Sauce

Cranberry sauce, a type of relish made from cranberries, is commonly enjoyed at Thanksgiving dinner and most likely was served at the very first Thanksgiving meal. Cranberries are a wild perennial native to North America and introduced to the Pilgrims by Native Americans. Today they are grown in several states across the country, with Wisconsin producing more than half of the country’s crop. Commercial cranberry sauce can be purchased in the grocery store as loose and uncondensed or jellied and condensed in a can.
