Pork Chops

In the United States, pork chops are most commonly cut from the pork loin. It is a lean cut that commonly has a piece of rib attached. Pigs arrived in Florida in 1539 with early Spanish explorers and were cheaper to raise than cattle.  From bacon to baby back ribs and pork chops, pork is a versatile and popular meat.

Ingredients

  • 8 pork chops
  • 1 tsp seasoned salt, plus more for seasoning
  • 1 tsp ground black pepper, plus more for seasoning
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • Cayenne pepper, to taste
  • ½ cup canola oil
  • 1 Tbsp butter

Directions

  1. Season both sides of pork chops with salt and pepper.
  2. Combine flour, cayenne, salt, and pepper in shallow dish. Dredge each side of pork chops in mixture. Set aside.
  3. Heat oil in pan over medium high heat and then add butter.
  4. When butter melts cook chops three at a time for 2–3 minutes on first side.
  5. Flip chops over and cook another 1–2 minutes or until chops are golden brown.
  6. Remove to a plate and cook remaining pork chops.
