Bratwurst is a type of German sausage, typically made from smoked pork. There are dozens of bratwurst recipes in Germany. This recipe, which cooks the sausage in beer, originates in Wisconsin. Germans are Wisconsin’s largest ethnic group, with nearly half of all Wisconsin residents reporting German ancestry. Cooked bratwursts are enjoyed sliced as a snack or as part of a meal with side dishes. Try serving this dish with sautéed peppers and onions for extra flavor.
