Baked Fish

Fish is a food source throughout the world and is a staple in many countries. Fish can be prepared in many ways, and baking is one of the easiest methods. In this recipe, fillets are seasoned with herbs and lemon and lightly breaded.

Ingredients

  • Non-stick cooking spray
  • 1–1½ lbs tilapia fillet (cod, haddock, or any mild fish can be used)
  • 4 Tbsp butter, melted
  • 2 tsp lemon juice
  • 1–2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • ½ tsp ground black pepper
  • ½ tsp thyme
  • 1 Tbsp chopped parsley
  • ⅓ cup dry breadcrumbs

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F.
  2. Spray a 13 x 9-inch baking dish with cooking spray.  
  3. Rinse fish fillets and pat dry.
  4. Set fish in single layer in prepared baking dish.
  5. Combine melted butter, lemon juice, garlic, sugar, pepper, thyme, and parsley in a small bowl. Stir well.
  6. Pour melted butter mixture over fish and then sprinkle with breadcrumbs.
  7. Bake for 20 minutes or until fish fillets are flaky and opaque.
