The first bonbons were created in the 17th century for the French royal court, where the word bonbon is synonymous with “candy.” Austrian composer Johann Strauss II made his fondness for bonbons clear by composing the waltz "Wiener Bonbons." Bonbons came to America in the late 1800s where they evolved to become a sweet, round confection covered in a thin chocolate shell. This version has a filling of walnuts and almonds.

							Ingredients
- 4 cups powdered sugar
 - 6 Tbsp unsalted butter
 - 1 cup walnuts or almonds, finely chopped
 - ½ cup condensed milk
 - 2½ cups chocolate chips
 
Directions
- Line two large baking trays with waxed paper.
 - Combine the sugar, 4 tablespoons butter, nuts, and condensed milk.
 - Form mixture into 1-inch balls.
 - Place balls on trays and cover. Refrigerate overnight.
 - To assemble, melt remaining 2 tablespoons butter and the chocolate chips on low heat.
 - Dip balls into chocolate, replace on tray, and let set until firm.
